Information:

The Tactical Escort Refit is a Captain (Tier 4) level Federation Escort vessel.

The original Defiant, commanded by Captain Benjamin Sisko, was on the front lines during the Dominion War. When it was lost to the Breen at the Second Battle of Chin’toka, Starfleet assigned the U.S.S. Sao Paulo to Deep Space Nine, but gave Sisko and his crew permission to rename the ship to Defiant.

Almost 35 years later Starfleet has launched the Tactical Escort Refit: Sao Paulo Class in honor of that ship. This vessel comes equipped with Quad Phaser Cannons. This fearsome energy weapon draws power from the ship’s engines to deal massive damage to an enemy. The Quad Phaser Cannons scale in effectiveness with your Rank and Grade, and may be equipped on any Escort or the Dreadnought Cruiser.

This ship is available from the C-Store for 1,500 Zen and comes with [Phaser Quad Cannons [Dmg]x4].They are a Bind on Pickup item and are unique in that they are the only weapon of its class to have a [Dmg]x4 modifier. The Quad Cannons are weaker than fleet weapons.

A Tactical Escort is one very tough ship despite its size. It is one of the most maneuverable ships in the game. It’s not the most durable thing in the field but its firepower is unmistakable. The turn speed can allow the player to make quick escapes or rotate shield damage.

Compared to the standard Tactical Escort, the Refit adds one Ensign Engineering bridge officer and one additional Engineering Console.

Variants

Sao Paulo Class:The Sao Paulo class is a 25th century refit of the famed Defiant class. It has exposed, forward-swept warp nacelles and a more faceted main deflector. It also has the white hull texture common to refit vessels. This class is unlocked with the purchase of the Tactical Escort Refit, and can be used on both the Tactical Escort and the tier 5 Tactical Escort Retrofit.

Defiant Class:The mighty Defiant class was the first of new Tactical Escort designs specifically created to fight the Borg. The project, which was stationed at Utopia Planitia was prototyped by a team that included the young Benjamin Sisko but was deemed a failure, due to latent design flaws. At the request of the DS9 Commander, the ship and its plans were removed from storage and its flaws corrected. The class design later entered production due to the Dominion threat.

Vigilant Class:Vigilant was a design inspired by the Defiant class. Just as powerful and nimble but with an updated nacelle design. The Vigilant was also equipped with a multipurpose space that is adaptable to any situation including relaxation or training.

Gallant Class:Launched in response to the fallout from the Khitomer Accords in 2399, the Gallant class was born. These ships were made to fight on the front lines of Borg conflict. Gallant is a variant of Defiant, just as capable and bares just as many teeth.
